Before you begin...
Please note that we offer Will/PA packages, saving you both time and money by having your planning documents taken care of at the same time. If you are interested in such a package, we recommend completing this BC Simple Wills Starter first and then the balance of information for the Power of Attorney can, as necessary, be added using the our BC Power of Attorney Starter.
Remember also to print and complete our
Will Backgrounder to bring with you to your appointment.

Additional Beneficiary Information
If you are planning to include beneficiaries other than already mentioned above, please use this space to identify them and include the following information: His/her full legal name, occupation, relation to Will-Maker, and the City, Province/State where they live now. (You can assign numbers or nicknames to each for use below in Asset Distribution if that helps)
(You need only add those not already mentioned by Primary Will-Maker)
Asset Distribution
In your own words, describe how you would like to see your Estate distributed upon your death among the various beneficiaries named above. You need not use their full legal names, just enough to avoid confusion and allow for discussion. Remember to consider alternates in the event that your first choices predecease. First consider if there are any specific gifts you would like to make before distributing the residue of your Estate to, or among, your primary beneficiaries.
These include charitable donations, items or sums of money to be gifted to a particular person, and other such bequests to be considered ahead of the residue (balance) of the Estate, the distribution of which is addressed in the next question. Please also consider alternates in the event of a beneficiary predeceasing you.
The residue of the Estate is the balance remaining after specific bequests, if any. This may be gifted to one or more people and in equal or differing shares. Please also consider alternates in the event of a beneficiary predeceasing you.
Either confirm same as Primary Will-Maker or identify differences.
Either confirm same as Primary Will-Maker or identify differences.
If both Will-Makers and their children (i.e. all primary beneficiaries) were killed together, how would the Estates be distributed? You may not be able to answer this question yet but give it some thought. If applicable, this will be a discussion point at your appointment.
Additional Information
Whie we can include in your Will a reference to your preferences in this regard, please remember that such decisions are usually made by your family/Trustees immediately after death, and likely before they review your Will. Accordingly, if this is a matter important to you, you may want to consider making prior arrangements, or at least advising your loved ones ahead of time of your preferences. For example, to become a registered organ donor, visit www.transplant.ca.
Getting Together
This Will Starter is just that, a first step toward having your Wills prepared and executed. We will want to arrange an appointment to meet with you to discuss your planning in greater detail. Then, in order for this Will to be effective, it must be properly executed pursuant to BC legislation at a second appointment, also part of our service to you.
Please let us know the best way(s) to contact you to make arrangements.
